Three new cyber security services will be rolled out to NHS health and care organisations by NHS Digital.

According to Computer Weekly, the services have been developed by NHS Digital’s cyber security arm, CareCert, which was launched last year.

The aim of the programme is to boost cyber resilience across health and social care through the provision of incident broadcasts, training and resources to health and care providers.

An e-learning portal, called CareCert Knowledge, is one of the services the organisation will offer. The aim of this service is to help train health and care organisation staff in “cyber security basics”.

The content for the portal has been developed by NHS Digital and Health Education England.

In order to help organisations assess their cyber security measures against the industry-set standards, NHS Digital will also be launching CareCert Assure.

Recommendations on how to improve data security will be provided through this service.

The final service NHS Digital is set to launch is a support service, named CareCert React. This will provide professional guidance on ways organisations can reduce the effect of data security incidents, as well as how to restore security as soon as possible.

Using a variety of sources, CareCert consumes intelligence information on cyber security threats. The information will be used to judge the likelihood of impact, and CareCert will then issue a broadcast.

The type of broadcast is based on the assumed level of risk.

Discussing the launch of the new services, NHS Digital chief executive, Andy Williams, said: “Good digital security is key to all roles in health and care, and we want to give NHS organisations the benefit of our expertise in this area so that we can promote best practice across the sector.

“We want to work with as many organisations as possible, and are seeking their feedback, so we can develop and test them according to organisations’ particular needs.”

The three new services will be tested this month.
